CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – LG Electronics donated 10 washer and dryer units to survivors of the December 2023 tornado on Thursday. The donation is part of ongoing efforts to help the community recover from the storm.
Lori Shinton, chief volunteerism officer at the United Way of Greater Nashville, spoke about the recovery work that has been happening since the tornado. “Over the past year, I have been the chair of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Long Term Recovery Group. That group came together to help survivors get back on the road to recovery from the tornadoes,” Shinton said.
She explained that many organizations, churches, and local businesses have been involved in the recovery process. “This has been a community effort from the beginning, every nonprofit you can think of has been involved. Many churches have been involved in helping survivors and also our local businesses have been participating,” she said.
Shinton also spoke about how important the LG Electronics donation was for two local families. “Today, LG has donated 10 washer and dryer units and two survivors today are going to receive those units and that’s the last piece of equipment they needed to be able to fully recover from the tornado,” she said.

“It has been a beautiful thing to watch this community come together and wrap around these folks that were impacted by the tornado,” she said. “We will be working all next year. … It takes a long time for people to recover, and we’re going to be there step by step, piece by piece.”
Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden also thanked LG for their support. “I don’t know how many times I have thanked LG for all that they have done, they continue to be a great partner here in the community. We are so blessed to have you,” Golden said.
