150 battle it out in Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s first Nerf Wars | PHOTOS

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Parks and Recreation held its first-ever Nerf Wars at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center on Saturday. The event featured multiple one-hour sessions with four battles per session tailored to different age groups, including adults and individuals with special needs.
“We got the idea because it was hosted in Nashville and we thought we would take it and make it our own,” said Penny Greene, event planning specialist for Clarksville Parks and Recreation.

The event kicked off with two sessions for adaptive adults and individuals with special needs. The games were supported by the Middle Tennessee Association of Down Syndrome and CADS, which sponsored registration for up to 50 participants. After these sessions, the event moved through different age groups, ending with an 18-plus group.
“We probably have close to 150 people that have participated today, with 3,000 rounds of Nerf ammo,” Greene said.
Due to the large turnout and interest, Clarksville Parks and Recreation plans to bring Nerf Wars back later this year. “We are going to host another one in August because we’ve had such a large interest and response from the public,” Greene said.
